We focus on creating an environment of kindness and inclusivity, where everyone looks out for one another, to enable pupils to flourish personally, academically and spiritually.
We know that young people who are happy are young people who thrive. We believe the best way of achieving a happy and content community is to ensure that that everyone feels valued for who they are.
Along with achieveing some of the best academic results in the country, our pupils leave Brighton College as well-rounded, confident and kind young adults. Kindness is central to the culture of our school.
All pupils join at House, each of which has its own Housemaster or Housemistresss. Each House has a common room for relaxing, and a team of tutors. There are no social hierachies in Houses: all forms mix together and older pupils are actively involved in mentoring younger pupils.
Kindness bands are given out to all pupils at the start of the year as a daily reminder to show kindness to others and distinctions are awarded to those who show real kindness to others.
Wellbeing is at the centre of our school culture and encompasses many aspects of mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health. But at its core is our ability to look after ourselves, and those around us.
Our Health and Wellbeing Centre is staffed by a dedicated team of qualified team of nurses who are on hand 24 hours a day. Our full time school Nutritionist is also on hand to ensure our pupils are healthy as well as happy.
We make the most of our glourious location by the sea, by hosting weekly sea swimming sessions. Seminars on the benefits of cold water therapy are run by Dr Mark Harper, a consultant anaethetist and cold water therapist and Andy White, an Ocean Set coach.
Sessions on sleep science are also held by a Clinical Scientist, to ensure our pupils are fully up-to-speed with the latest research around sleep hygiene.
Our pastoral system, overseen by a dedicated Deputy Head, ensures that everyone feels cared for in both academic and personal matters.
We are here to support not only our pupils and teachers, but our parents too. We hold regular seminars for parents on topics ranging from teenagers and social media, to how to help your child get the most from their revision.
Our pupils know that there is a whole world beyond the classroom, and we encourage them to remember that they are a part of society, not apart from it.
The best way to experience what life is like at Brighton College is to join us at an Open Morning; you will have the chance to talk to current pupils and teachers about what makes Brighton College such a special place, and they will answer any questions you have about life here.
