Boarding in the Sixth Form offers you a valuable two years of preparation before embarking on the next phase of youor journey. Almost half of our Sixth Form pupils are boarders and, while all Houses have Sixth Form boarders, the College also has a co-educational, Sixth Form only House, located just a few minutes’ walk from the College – Alexander House is the latest addition to our vibrant boarding community.

Boarding in the Sixth Form helps nurture in the pupils an increasing sense of independence, whilst simultaneously providing myriad opportunities for leadership roles, be that launching and running charity initiatives or helping younger pupils. Through such experiences, our Sixth Formers are sure to develop key skills that sit alongside their academic proficiency, to forge curious, confident and kind pupils ready for the next stage of their exciting futures. The Sixth Form boarding team are also all experienced in offering university and futures guidance.

Our boarding programme caters for all interests, from Zumba to Harry Potter Club, spin classes to origami, offering pupils the chance to meet other like-minded Sixth Formers and also balance their studies via immersion in the vast array of activities.

With this incredibly supportive and rounded provision in place, pupils are guaranteed a memorable boarding experience at Brighton College, an experience of which we are proud to be a part. We are always happy to showcase our Houses, so please do get in touch if you would like to arrange a visit.

Weekly boarding offers the best of both worlds and is hugely popular with families from London, as well as those from Berkshire, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Brighton offers easy transport links, and with no Saturday school and prep completed during the week, you can go home on a Friday and enjoy three nights at home with your family. However, should you wish to stay at school and join in with our jam-packed weekend of activities, you are very welcome to do so.

We offer the ultimate flexibility for families. Our bus routes allow for ease of travel on a Friday night and Monday morning, or pupils can stay to enjoy a packed weekend of activities with our full boarders. Weekly boarders are very welcome to stay over on a Friday evening if they have a sports fixture on a Saturday, or if they would like to return to school on a Sunday to catch up on prep or music practice, they are very welcome to do so.

Our lively community of full boarders enjoys a full and exciting activities programme on offer each evening and weekend.

On Saturdays, our boarders enjoy a variety of activities, including  yoga, karate lessons, swimming, cookery classes, spin, crazy golf, circuit training, beach volleyball, badminton, football and basketball. Sports fixtures and debating competitions also often take place on a Saturday, allowing our boarders to travel to other schools across the UK to represent Brighton College.

On Sundays, our boarders enjoy a varied trips programme, including go karting, bouldering, visiting the Harry Potter Studios and other entertainment venues, pottery painting and art classes, plus cultural visits to London.

Throughout the weekend, study time is available with the support of our dedicated in-house tutors, ensuring our boarders are up to date with their prep and examination preparation. Our music practice rooms are also available to use throughout the weekend.

Events such as open mic nights, table tennis tournaments and Boarders Got Talent competition are also hugely popular.

The happiness and welfare of each of our boarders is of the utmost importance to everyone in our boarding community. We pride ourselves on providing pupils with a safe and supportive environment, and you will make friends and memories in the boarding Houses that will last forever.

Whether weekly or full boarding, every pupil takes full advantage of the excellent facilities within the College and the many arts and community events taking place in the city itself.

Your House will become your extended family and as a Sixth Form boarder, you will have responsibility to take on a leadership role and mentor the younger members of the House.

Every evening and weekend, the school belongs to our boarders and is a wonderfully dynamic place to be.

A wide range of exciting activities are available to our boarders, which complement and enhance their academic life and take full advantage of the excellent facilities within the College. This includes our School of Science and Sport, where they have their very own gym, yoga studio, cinema, pool and rooftop running track. Dance lessons are also available to all at our Dance School.

Our boarders enjoy a vast array of fun and educational activities to choose from. From pizza evenings, film nights in our beautiful cinema, cookery classes, escape rooms, barbeques, jewellery making, beach trips, sea swimming, crazy golf and beach yoga to large-scale performances such as Boarders got Talent and Battle of the Bands, there is something for everyone to get involved with.

Our school Nutritionist helps pupils make healthy choices, understanding the value of nutrition in supporting their brains and nourishing their bodies. Healthy food is key to a healthy mind, but equally important is how food brings pupils and staff together where they can share their day and wind down over a delicious meal.

We have weekly classes on mindfulness, and complement these with a range of initiatives, including meditation workshops and yoga classes.

Our on-site Health Centre is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We also have a dedicated Wellbeing Centre and we host regular sessions on topics such as the benefits of sea swimming with a cold-water therapist and how good sleep hygiene can lead to better physical, mental and academic performance.

We have six modern boarding Houses offering weekly and full boarding. As a Sixth Former, you also have the choice of a mixed boarding House situated just outside our campus – we believe this is a truly excellent way to prepare for life at university. In each of our boarding Houses we focus on the importance of communal spaces. Each House has a newly refurbished Common Room, and boarders also have access to their own café in the evenings.

The best way to experience what life is like at Brighton College Sixth Form is to join us at an Open Morning, where you will have the chance to talk to pupils and teachers about what makes our school such a special place, and to answer any questions you have about life here.
