Benji (above right) was recently named a 2023 Rise Global Winner by the Rise programme. He is one of just 100 winners of the global scholarship who hail from 43 different nations.

Described by the Rise foundation as ‘exceptionally talented and motivated young people’ who are changing the world through ideas and solutions, the Rise Global Winners are ‘the sparks that we hope will ignite a lifelong commitment to each other and to a better future for us all’, according to Wendy Schmidt, who with her husband funds the programme.

Benji has been praised for his work on a low-cost robotics kit intending to reduce the gender and wealth disparity within the STEM field and is the head of our award-winning robotics team. He progressed to the final of the Technology Design and Innovation Challenge held at Yamazaki Mazak in Worcester with teammate Miles (above left), and has even co-written a book, 3D Printing for Everyone.

His incredible scholarship provides fully funded Higher Education scholarships, funding for innovative ideas, a residential summit, and a global network of Rise scholars.
