Pupils are celebrating today after receiving an astonishing 43 offers from either the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge – the highest number in the College’s history. We are immensely proud of our pupils - a huge congratulations!
Lights, camera, action! The school recently witnessed a musical extravaganza as over three hundred pupils came together to celebrate the magic of film music. From enchanting melodies to powerful symphonies, the event was a testament to the diverse talents within our school community.
The concert opened with a wave of youthful energy as the entire Lower School took to the stage, singing and playing music from the beloved classic, The Little Mermaid. It was a joyous beginning that set the tone for what was to come – a celebration of creativity and passion for music.
Throughout the evening, various ensembles showcased their talents, weaving a tapestry of sound that captivated the audience. From intimate chamber groups to the soulful melodies of the chamber choir, each performance resonated with the audience, transporting them into the world of cinema through music.
The swing band added a jazz flair to the proceedings, infusing the air with infectious rhythms and toe-tapping beats. Meanwhile, the concert band filled the auditorium with rich harmonies, showcasing their musical prowess with every note.
One of the highlights of the evening was the grand finale: a breath-taking collaboration between the Chapel choir and the symphony orchestra. Together, they brought Karl Jenkins’ iconic choral work Adiemus to life, a piece made famous by its inclusion in the film Avatar. As the music swelled and soared, accompanied by stunning visuals on the big screen, it was a moment of pure magic that left the audience spellbound.
The integration of film visuals added an extra dimension to the performances, enhancing the overall experience and immersing the audience in the cinematic world. It was a true celebration of the symbiotic relationship between music and film.
