Our pupils produced sections of Totem Poles inspired by the Art of the Native American tribes. Each section depicts an animal the pupil feels best suits their character and personality. The pieces were made in terracotta clay and were painted using the traditional palette of colours.

Meanwhile, some delicious clay cakes have been created in the art studio. Inspiration for these cakes came from the work of Wayne Thiebaud and contemporary ceramicist Anna Barlow. Pupils used traditional cake decorating techniques, such as piping, to work with the clay. The cakes were then placed on charity shop plates and glazed with the glaze/icing dripping onto the plate. This adheres the cake to the plate during the firing process and voila! An exquisite ceramic confection is created.
