The Chamber Choir enjoyed singing evensong at Christ Church Cathedral, part of the University of Oxford . The pupils were given a tour around the Quad, the famous stairwell, cloisters and Cathedral, which dates from medieval times and were incredibly impressive. They found out about the stained-glass windows, the organ and the numerous tombs, together with many of the notable moments in the history, which filled them with an increasing sense of awe.

After a brisk rehearsal, The Chamber Choir donned their cassocks and went to the choir stalls – the Sub Dean and cathedral staff were very welcoming and the acoustics were amazing!

The atmosphere amongst the congregation was hushed and thoughtful, and everyone in the Choir sang superbly, thoroughly enjoying the experience. They performed a variety of repertoire, from Herbert Howells’ Collegium Regale to Lucy Walker’s My Heart O God.
