The London Schools’ Film Competition was one that Anna (New, Fourth Form) and Eve (Seldon, Fourth Form) will never soon forget!
The process started when they learnt about the competition from our drama teacher Mr Kerr. For the next few weeks they were mostly experimenting on different ideas, different styles of theatre, and different genres. After, they had an concept, the next step was figuring out how they were going to approach filming and dialogue.
In the end the pupils decided to create a silent film, which proved the right decision, as it allowed them to focus more on the music and how that can be utilised to affect how the audience feels. From there they experimented with different lighting and angles, using both video and photography in their film and spending two full weekends filming and editing.
The evening of the awards ceremony was one of both excitement and anxiety at the same time, with tough competition, all with brilliant films themselves. Following dinner they continued to a drama studio, where the winners and nomineees for each prize category were announced.
Following this, they went back to the studio to watch the top five films from the senior category and top four films from the junior category. Finally, after waiting the whole evening for this moment, the winner of the senior and junior categories were announced and they found out they had won the latter.
A special mention must also go to Zander (Aldrich, Upper Sixth) for winning the award for ‘Best Visual and Special Effects’ at the same awards night.
Amazing work from you all!
