Sixth Form pupils talking as they walk past the Richard Cairns Building

We are incredibly excited to announce the opening of the latest addition to our beautiful campus: The Richard Cairns Building.

Our exciting new cultural hub, designed by pioneering Dutch architects krft, features:

  • a 400-seat theatre
  • 13 music rooms
  • a dance school
  • a Sixth Form Study and Club
  • a Global Futures Centre
  • our English department
  • our first purpose-built computing and digital media department

The building was showcased perfectly during its opening by the first ever school performance in the new theatre. Our special guest, BAFTA award-winning film producer, David Heyman, was introduced with a showreel of some of his greatest works, including Paddington, Wonka, Barbie and Harry Potter, and giant red button was brought on stage for him to press to officially open the building. Pupils from across our performing arts disciplines then presented an exceptional programme of drama, dance and music. A huge congratulations to all involved in the wonderful evening – the first of many to come in the new building.

Thank you to all who made this engineering triumph possible – an immense addition to Brighton College.
