Brighton College is delighted to have received an unprecedented three accolades in The Sunday Times Parent Power Schools Guide: UK Boarding School of the Year 2025, Top School of the Year for A-levels 2025 and Top Academic School in South East England 2025.
The Sunday Times rankings also place Brighton College as the Top Co-Educational School in the UK.
A* is once again the most common A-level grade at Brighton College, and chess maestro Henry helped this cause, achieving an outstanding four A*s.
Rising up the chess ranks, Henry continues to raise eyebrows at the English Chess Federation, with a string of sensational performances. Alongside his brother, George, who is in the Upper Fifth, the brothers competed in the recent Cambridge International Chess Congress and performed superbly well.
The congress had five Grandmasters and six International Masters, including Britian’s highest graded Grandmaster and world number 44 at the time, Michael Adams. Henry accepted a draw offer from the top seed and gained over 100 rating points, finishing well above expectations.
Henry is delighted at his results and how the school has helped him achieve such excellent grades: “I feel relieved, mostly, as well as elated to have received these results. I think it’s testament to both my own persistence and hard work, as well as the hard work of the teachers at Brighton College. I’ve been at the school for seven years, and I think it’s been a hugely important time in my life.”
Henry has just got through to the final stage of the UK Chess Challenge, winning the Southern Final to qualify for the final 12 – a fantastic achievement that we hope he will go one step closer to national glory.
