Pupils are celebrating today after receiving an astonishing 43 offers from either the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge – the highest number in the College’s history. We are immensely proud of our pupils - a huge congratulations!
With a departure time of 4am at the end of a busy Michaelmas term, they started the trip somewhat ‘cansados’, but adrenaline kicked in and they were soon enjoying visits to the old town in Valencia, including the Torres de Serranos and the Lonja de la Seda, as well as the Christmas markets, before enjoying a paella evening in a beach restaurant, all on the first day!
The second day commenced with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a day trip to the City of Arts and Sciences, home to Spain’s most famous Science Museum, the country’s largest planetarium and Europe’s largest oceanarium. Pupils enjoyed a meal in the evening before returning to the hotel for a well-earned rest. On the final day, they had an early breakfast, before heading to the Mestalla Stadium, home to Valencia Football Club, for a private guided tour, and then to the Fallas Museum where pupils saw the iconic winning figures from Valencia’s famous annual Las Fallas festival.
They then returned to the city centre for some shopping, a walk along the river and lunch, before heading to the airport for our late evening flight. It was fantastic to see the pupils enjoying life in one of Spain’s most iconic cities and putting their Spanish to use.
