Michel Roux and Catering Team at the opening of the Richard Cairns Building

We were delighted to be joined by Michelin-starred chef, Michel Roux, at the opening of The Richard Cairns Building last Friday.

Having Michel be a part of such a special event was a real privilege and will live forever in our memories. Food is such a powerful thing; it brings people together, and it was a fantastic to see our guests enjoy such a wonderful culinary experience, from the canapés and drinks, to the sit down meal.

Michel being in the kitchen talking to our catering staff was the boost they needed to keep them all charged to the end of a very busy week! Steve Groves, who won Master Chef: The Professionals, and who worked with Michel at his restaurant in Parliament Square, was in the kitchen all day, helping the team.

The most surreal moment for our Head Chef, Sean, was sitting down with Michel at the table and going through his menu, explaining each course and what was in the dish. He asked a lot of questions and said he was looking forward to the meal. After the meal he went back into the kitchen, shook Sean's hand and said: “Well done Chef; the food tasted brilliant – the venison was smoked perfectly”. High praise indeed!
