Brighton College is delighted to have received an unprecedented three accolades in The Sunday Times Parent Power Schools Guide: UK Boarding School of the Year 2025, Top School of the Year for A-levels 2025 and Top Academic School in South East England 2025.
The Sunday Times rankings also place Brighton College as the Top Co-Educational School in the UK.
A vast range of musical styles were celebrated at the Young Musician of the Year Advanced Final.
From Libby’s mesmerising rendition of Oscar’s Fantasy for Trumpet and Piano; Emily’s passionate performance of a French marimba concerto; Bruno’s skillful use of music technology and drum kit in creating a unique atmosphere and Michael’s virtuosic Wienowski to Mahiee effortless Powell, most centuries were covered in what was a fabulous display of musicianship, as well as hard work.
In the Singing Cup, both Cian and Rumi delivered mature and beautiful performances that showcased their musicality and storytelling whilst tackling incredibly technical passages.
We had the graceful company of Mr Tim Carpenter, the adjudicator, who presented invaluable feedback, followed by the prize presentation at the end of the evening. Josh’s remarkable display of virtuosity was highly commended, Helena won third place for a performance that completely captured the audience, and Thomas came second for his
mature interpretation and flawless execution.
Rosalyn was named Young Musician of the Year for her effortless performance of Haydn’s Cello Concerto that demonstrated impeccable technique and musicality. Edie was awarded the Singer’s Cup for an impressive demonstration of her versatility as a performer and vocalist.
Overall, Young Musician of the Year 2024 was an unforgettable experience. We would like to thank the whole music department for organising this special event and to all of our wonderful music teachers for their wisdom and guidance always.
