Pupils with their medals and the judges in the Strictly Come Dancing Finals

The College’s annual Strictly Come Dancing competition was, once again, a sensational evening of entertainment! The Great Hall was transformed into a glittering ballroom, as our talented Lower Sixth dancers performed to rapturous applause in front our panel of judges and a very appreciative audience.

After wowing the audience and the judges with their sizzling Salsa, Bee and Ben were crowned this year’s Strictly Come Dancing champions. The award for the Most Entertaining Couple went to Cara
and Datis , for their charismatic Cha Cha.

The other finalists performed with brilliant energy and pizazz throughout the evening. The finalists performed two exhilarating group pieces, as well as dancing as couples, having learnt the Charleston, Quickstep, Jive and American Smooth.

The judging panel, West End and Hollywood movie dance star, Lee Bridgman; professional choreographer, dancer and STOMP artist, Lorraine Le Blanc; and special guest judge and BBC Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Katie Derham, commented on the fantastic energy and astonishing standard of each of the performances.

The Brighton College Swing Band performed sensationally throughout the evening, providing an electrifying accompaniment for each of the finalists’ performances, and stunned the audience with their interludes. It was magnificent to see the collaboration between music and dance come to life under the Great Hall’s disco ball!

Chichester House was delighted to host the bar and raffle in aid of their charity, Rise, with all proceeds from the evening going to the charity. Rise is a Brighton-based charity that helps people affected by domestic abuse and offers practical help ranging from direct advice to refuge accommodation for those whose lives are at risk.
