The best way to experience what life is like at Brighton College is to join us at an Open Morning, where you will have the chance to talk to pupils and teachers about what makes our school such a special place.
Pupils, staff and parents have been active in offering help to people affected by the war in Ukraine. After pupils approached teachers asking, ‘what are we going to do?’, we created a working group called ‘Let Right Prevail’, named after our school motto, to centralise support in the best ways we can.
This has included creating an online portal at school to share resources and ideas, and pupils have led a number of internal and external initiatives – including our College Amnesty International Group promoting email-writing campaigns to MPs, extensive fundraising, and volunteering.
As a part of this, continuing our close work with local refugee organisations, we have offered 20 scholarships to children from Ukraine whose families are relocated to Brighton & Hove and Sussex. These children and their families are being hosted by Brighton College parents as the school works with community partners to provide them with support in the ways that are most needed. Head Master Richard Cairns says the whole school community is behind the initiative, with parents, pupils and staff all contributing in ways that they can - from providing accommodation to support with visas, getting new uniforms and helping families settle in.
