Sixth Form NewsAwards and Accolades
 Thomas W

A huge congratulations to Thomas, who we were delighted to learn has not only received an offer to study Music at St John’s College, Cambridge, along with an organ scholarship, but has also been offered a prestigious organ scholarship at the College of St George, home to St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

As part of his one-year scholarship at Windsor Castle, Thomas will assist the Director of Music at the College of St George in delivering music and daily services. He will also help to train the prep school choristers, who sing as trebles in the Choir. The scholarship will provide Thomas with high standards of training in a collegiate environment and will develop his skills in service playing and accompanying, solo repertoire and choir training. Thomas says of this exciting news: “The audition process at Windsor was rigorous but very enjoyable, and I am excited about what the future holds.”

Thomas’ favourite musical moments so far include playing the voluntary after our Chamber Choir’s visiting Evensong at Westminster Abbey in April last year, as well as accompanying the Choir at the Royal Albert Hall, Symphony Hall in Birmingham, Southwark Cathedral and Chichester Cathedral. He was also proud to play the Last Post during our Remembrance Day service.

In the meantime, Thomas is excited to be accompanying the Chamber Choir for their visiting service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London at the end of February. Having passed his ARSM piano diploma in March 2023 and his Grade 8 Trumpet in November 2024, Thomas eagerly awaits news as to whether he has passed his Associateship Diploma for the Royal College of Organists.

We are incredibly proud of Thomas’ achievements and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
